RS67691_20170512_PhiBetaKappa-0179-lprTwelve new members of Pacific’s Phi Beta Kappa Society chapter were inducted May 12 at Raymond Great Hall. Another three members who were inducted in 2016 also received their pins at the ceremony.

Phi Beta Kappa is the oldest and best-known academic society in the United States. It was founded in 1776 at William & Mary College and for more than two centuries has stood for freedom of inquiry and liberty of thought and expression.

The society is a prestigious organization – only about 10 percent of a college’s graduates are invited to join. Membership is a reflection of outstanding academic achievement.

Minimum requirements include a 3.7 GPA for seniors or 3.9 for juniors as well as requirements in mathematics, foreign language and literature.
